Need control system to run their small-batch brewing machine.
Must monitor temperature using a J-type thermocouple, report this on the display and use it for process control.
Must turn a small pump on and off.
Must regulate an electric heater.
Solution:
We used one of our engineer's extensive knowledge of beer brewing to help this customer decide on a sophisticated touch-screen-controlled system instead of an on/off switch and old fashioned temperature controller
We programmed the PLC to run the entire system and did this to a much greater degree than the customer realized was possible.
Though a PLC with integrated touch-screen originally seemed cost prohibitive, we were able to meet the price point needed because of the high volume.
Our panel shop developed sub assemblies and wire harnesses to streamline the construction of the electrical control panels.
The GUI was designed to be simple and intuitive for use by average homebrewers, brewpub owners and craft brewing employees.
We used the Unitronics Data Export software to allow communication and exchange of recipes between the Brew-Magic PLC and a PC. This allows recipes to be created, viewed and modified from within Microsoft Excel.
Sales of the machine have risen considerably since AMPS redesigned the control system.
We continually refine and update the system to keep our customer at the cutting edge of homebrewing and pilot-batch brewing technology. We also communicate directly with their customers upon request in order to troubleshoot and offer assistance.
AMPS offers JIT delivery in quantities of 5 or 10 panels at a time.
